From Conference obscurity with Hereford to beating England and reaching the FA Cup final, Capaldi continues to grow in stature
Part of the Northern Ireland team that famously beat England 1-0 in September 2005, Capaldi was a trainee at Birmingham and a loanee at Hereford in the Conference, before making the step up to the Football League at Plymouth Argyle in May 2003.
A steady but not stellar performer at left-back, he played nearly 150 games for the Pilgrims but received criticism from a section of the Argyle support for his performances and, having rejected a new contract with the club in the summer of 2007, tried his luck at Cardiff.
In his first season, he racked up over 50 appearances, including the FA Cup final at Wembley.
