Quinn is gradually easing his way into the Blades first team, playing 15 times in 2006/07 and 19 in 2007/08
The younger brother of former Blade Alan (and older brother of youth-teamer Keith), Stephen Quinn began his career with St Patrick’s Athletic before moving to Bramall Lane in 2005.
He made his United debut that September in a League Cup win at Shrewsbury before spending loan spells at MK Dons and Rotherham later in the campaign.
At Millmoor, he became a real fans’ favourite, where his fearless attitude at the heart of midfield, combined with his good ball distribution and ability to shoot from distance, stood out in the club’s successful battle against relegation from League One.
He returned to Bramall Lane for the club’s top-flight season and made a big impression with a number of first-class performances, most notably against Aston Villa and Portsmouth where he scored a couple of cracking goals.
