Written off as an injury-ravaged has-been on the east coast, he has made himself a vital cog in Dale's resurgent side
Bishop Auckland-born defender Ramsden arrived at Spotland midway through the 2005/06 campaign.
His career began as a trainee at Sunderland but after a single FA Cup substitute appearance for the Black Cats and a season on loan at Notts County he signed a permanent deal with Grimsby Town in 2004. He had a solid debut campaign for the Mariners at either centre-back or right-back, but just a month into his second season an injury sidelined him for four weeks and he failed to break back into the starting XI. Rochdale rescued him in January 2006 and ‘Rambo’ hasn’t looked back since, notching up more than 80 starts as a mainstay in the side.
