He was Port Vale's Young Player of the Year in 2005 – and he was only on loan. He needs to push on if he's to get himself more regular football
Togwell is a former Crystal Palace trainee who, after just four first-team appearances, found himself part of the deal which took Barnsley's Scott Flinders to Selhurst Park and himself to Oakwell in the summer of 2006.
A hard-working, tough-tackling defensive midfielder he had enjoyed a loan spell at Port Vale during his time with the Eagles, winning Vale’s Young Player of the Year award in 2005/06.
His first season with the Tykes was a success, as he established himself at the heart of the midfield, but he found 2007/08 a more difficult proposition, often playing second fiddle to both Anderson De Silva and Bobby Hassell.
