Football League journeyman not to be sniffed at. Lambert has plundered 75 league goals in 291 appearances
Powerfully built, strong in the air and noted for his fierce shots, Lambert is a typical number nine striker.
Somewhat of a journeyman during the early stages of his career the Liverpudlian represented Blackpool, Macclesfield, Stockport County and Rochdale before signing for Bristol Rovers in August 2006, for a fee of £200,000 – taking the total amount spent on him to an estimated £600,000.
Lambert repaid the faith shown in him with a number of crucial goals during the Pirates’ 2006/07 promotion season and famously scored a free-kick against Southampton that took Rovers to the FA Cup quarter-final in 2007/08.
