After an initial struggle, some extra gym time paid off for the raiding full-back who is now an integral element of the winning machine that is Manchester United
Born in Senegal, this French international full-back joined United in January 2006 and, after an initial wobble, has slotted effectively into the club’s mean back four.
Quick and defensively solid, he is also comfortable pushing forward from left-back. Evra’s first club was Masala, in the Italian third tier. He graduated to Monza and Nice before Monaco secured his services in 2002. There, Evra went on to become captain, winning the French League and international honours.
After initial struggles with the more physical English game, he has cemented his position in the starting XI, and has signed a contract extension until 2012.
