Counago returned to East Anglia following an unsuccesful stint with Malaga. Ipswich, Malaga - pretty much he same thing really...
The former Spain U21 international is in his second spell at Portman Road. He started his career with Numancia, then joined Celta Vigo before before being sent on a season-long loan to Recreativo de Huelva.
Having scored twice against England’s U21 side in February 2001, he caught the eye of then Ipswich boss George Burley who took him to Portman Road on a free.
Counago was an immediate success with his craft and deft touch and enjoyed playing off a main striker. After 31 goals in 99 league appearances he returned to Spain with Malaga in the summer of 2005, before rejoining to the Tractor Boys in September 2007.
