After an impressive introduction to the football league, Mackay will be looking to cement a first team place next term
A startlingly impressive goalscoring record in non-league football prompted Hartlepool United to sign the forward from Consett in February 2007, while the striker had an incredible 43 goals to his name at that stage of the season. The Durham-born six-footer, a natural poacher, had also been highly prolific between 2004 and 2006 scoring a hatful of goals for Birtley and Durham City during that period. Mackay’s speed and eye for goal have since caught the eye at The Vic where he scored five goals in ten starts during the 2007/08 season, impressing the fans and his team-mates with the way he’s stepped up to Football League level.
