After getting his Hearts career off to a flyer Zaliukas has lost momentum and his place in the Jambos starting line-up
Zaliukas in a long-term refugee from Vladimir Romanov’s Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas, arriving at Tynecastle on extended loan in the summer of 2006.
The tall, brawny centre-back went on to form a solid and relatively regular partnership with Christophe Berra in the middle of the Hearts defence, but he looked increasingly bedraggled as 2007-08 wore on.
Scoring on his debut and bagging the winner against Hibs in 2007 has done his terrace kudos no harm, but unless his form takes a sharp upward movement he looks less and less like a long-term fixture at the club.
