Defender

Full-back, centre-half, centre-forward or between the sticks, O'Shea can be relied on. Not even Phil Neville's that versatile

The ultimate utility player, O’Shea has turned out in midfield, at right-back, left-back, in central defence and even as an emergency forward and (once) goalkeeper.

He signed for United aged 17 in 1999 after developing his skills with Bohemians in the Irish League. His versatility gave him an advantage as he began winning first-team starts: as a full back he could to trigger moves down the wing, and he added defensive steel when played in midfield. O’Shea endeared himself further to the Old Trafford faithful with a last-minute winner at Anfield in March 2007, bagging crucial points for United’s title challenge.

Very good utility player, Why does Ferguson play him so much though?

decent. Doesn't ever do anything brilliant, probably should move to mid table team.
