Despite enduring an injury hit second season Park played enough games to qualify for a medal subsequently becoming the first Korean to win the Premiership, impressing in decisive games against Aston Villa and Bolton.
Park is a hard-working, highly versatile figure who has adapted well to Premiership football and is incredibly famous in his home country. When he turned in a man-of-the-match winning performance against Barcelona last season he became the first Asian player to be part of three Champions League semi-finals.
