Defender

Club captain and a red through-and-through. Popular with scousers too...

Does anyone embody the spirit of Manchester United better than ‘Red Nev’?

The fans’ favourite at Old Trafford – the Bury-born defender grew up a United supporter – Neville has clocked up more than 500 appearances for the Reds. A one-club man, he came through the youth ranks alongside brother Phil and best mate David Beckham.

His tenacious performances at right back have made him first choice for club and country for more than a decade, and he was handed the captaincy following Roy Keane’s departure in 2005-06. The 2008-09 campaign is a crucial one as he comes back from long-term injury.

If he can regain a starting place after the injuries he has had. The reliable G Nev has so much to offer still for Manchester United and England.

i think that Gary Neville has been, and still is one of the most underrated players in both the Premier League and for England.
His admiration and dedication for both Man Utd and England is one that no other player has shown, and i havent seen it since. No one can cross the ball like him, and the work he does, overlapping the wingers is better than any other player. Gary still has plenty of games left in him, even though he has had recent injuries. He was recently picked to be in the England squad by Capello, surely that shows he is still able to cut it out, and that his performances are still amongst the best.
COME ON GARY, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Somehow The Red Devil Got Behind Me Somehow The Red Devil Got Behind Me (on 26.02.2009 at 10:19pm) says:
I love the man for his dedication and service to the club but his desire to play is effecting the performance of the club. Take the Super Cup for example: his lack of pace (granted he was a bit rusty) led to one of Zenit's goals. That, of course, made all the difference in the end. He needs to retire while his nerve and dignity is in tact. A legend like him shouldn't ride the bench at the end of his days.
