A superstar at Hibs and a Scotland international, but his career went off the rails with Lokomotiv. Can he put it right at St Andrews?
Signed on a three-year deal from Lokomotiv Moscow in July 2007, O’Connor started his career under Birmingham boss Alex McLeish at Hibs, making his debut in April 2001 against Dundee.
A combative and hard-working forward, O’Connor is not afraid to go looking for the ball and is dangerous from wide positions as well as in a more central role. At Easter Road he netted 46 goals in 138 appearances, winning Scotland caps in the process, before his surprise move to Russia in February 2006 for £1.6m.
Never able to settle in Russia, he joined Blues for £2.65m but managed just five starts in his first season, scoring twice.
