Arrived in England to much fan-fare, before really flattering to deceive in 2007/08. The boy Malouda needs to up his game, big time
Like so many of Jose Mourinho’s signing for Chelsea, Malouda is a supreme athlete, his muscular wing-play providing the Blues with an alternative to the more diminutive wide men at Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman first displayed his pace and strength in the French second division with Chateauroux, before a move to Ligue 1 side Guingamp in 2003 where he formed a rampaging partnership with current Chelsea team-mate Didier Drogba.
His best years, however, came at Lyon where he won four consecutive league titles and the Ligue Un Player of the Year award in 2007. Months later, he moved across the English Channel for £13.5m but despite scoring on his debut in the Community Shield, he had an indifferent first season in England.
A France international, he won the penalty which Zinedine Zidane converted in the 2006 World Cup final.
