The record-breaking former Scotland youth international still needs to find his feet at the top level, and he needs to do it quickly
The youngest player ever to score in the SPL, Goodwillie signed on at Tannadice in 2003 and scored his historic goal in March 2006, aged 16 years, 11 months and four days.
A quick, busy striker, he was rewarded with a regular first-team berth in 2006-07 but failed to score, struggling to adapt to regular SPL football and daunted by the attention.
Seeking consistency and maturity from a player who he felt was blooded too early, Levein loaned Goodwillie to Raith Rovers for all of 2007-08, where he impressed with nine goals.
His manager has been keeping a close eye on his progress, and he returns to Tannadice seeking a second chance.
