One of Coppell's low cost high yield signings, went from non-league to top flight in five years. Has pace and strength in his arsenal
Kitson started his league career with Cambridge and despite making a huge jump from Ryman League Arlesey Town, his pace, strength and height helped him net 40 goals in 102 appearances for the club.
A £150,000 move to Reading followed in December 2003 and he netted five goals in his first 10 games for the club.
He went on to score 37 league goals in two seasons as the Royals climbed into the Premier League but he couldn’t have got his top-flight career off to a worse start, suffering a serious knee injury following a reckless challenge by Middlesbrough’s Chris Riggott on the opening day of the season. He was restricted to just nine starts, but bounced back in 2007-08 with 10 goals in 28 starts.
