With Boro’s Australian goalkeeping contingent down to one following the departure of stalwart Mark Schwarzer at the end of the 2007/08 season, Jones will be hoping for the long-awaited chance to establish himself at The Riverside.
The 6ft 3in keeper has impressed when called upon since making his Boro debut in a 2-0 FA Cup victory over Notts County in January 2004, but the Australia international has found himself on the bench for a large portion of his time in the North East thanks to the continued good form of his fellow countryman.
