Edwin van der Sar’s chief understudy and a genuine future contender for the England No.1 jersey...
He signed for United in summer 2005, making his debut for the Reds three years later, but there’s still every reason to believe that Ben Foster is the future of Manchester United – and England’s – goalkeeping needs.
Kept out of the team by Edwin van der Sar’s form and a cruciate injury in May 2007, he showed his class while out on loan to Watford in 2005-06, playing a pivotal role as the Hornets were promoted to the Premiership.
A second loan season with Watford saw the side relegated but Foster’s performances remained excellent and he’ll now be looking to reproduce this form at United.
