Scourge of Juventus in his fourth spell at the club he started his career with. Versatile defender able to play on the left and right
Griffin returned to Stoke City for £300,000 in January 2008, over a decade after leaving the club where he started his career.
Sandwiched in between he enjoyed seven seasons at Newcastle United – where he once struck the winner in a Champions League tie against Juventus – and two more at Portsmouth, before signing for Derby County.
He is actually now into his fourth spell with the Potteries outfit. During the 2006-07 season he spent two stints at the Britannia on loan from Derby, when he reminded Stoke supporters of is versatility by slotting in at both right-back and left-back. He is now the club captain and under contract until 2012.
