Technique, vision, creativity and bite. Sir Alex's young samba star of the Scholes mould
Signing at Old Trafford in July 2007, Anderson impressed United fans with a scintillating first season.
Possessing all the precise footwork, pinpoint passing and technical ability you’d expect from a Brazil international, Anderson also displayed a strong work ethic. Joining Gremio as a five-year-old, Anderson made his first-team debut in the Brazilian league at 16.
He came to international attention with some stunning performances at the 2005 U17 World Cup, where he was voted best player. Porto snapped him up, and two great years there saw Alex Ferguson willing to splash out around £18m for his services.
